The Siege of Limerick is a bi-annual metal and hard rock gathering held in Limerick City Ireland since 2009, occurring on the October Bank Holiday Sunday and Easter Bank Holiday Sunday
The event is run with a community ethos at it’s heart with the support of Dolans Limerick, an exceptional bar and venue in Limerick City. We strive to bring together local, national and international underground metal acts for a day long event that is free in. We don’t do this for profit.
Over 30 bands play across three stages, with four bar areas and three heated smoking areas. Doors are at 12pm and the event runs till 2am.
International acts are handpicked by the primary organisers with the headliners always being something a little special.
We don’t give away our secrets.
The Siege is magic.
There are regular bus services and train services operating to Limerick City daily by the following providers:
All options have return option BUT late night options on the night of the event are only available with Dublin Coach, JJkavanagh and EirEagle.
Re: Travelling back to Dublin on the night. Main headliners will be finished in time for night buses from 1am. See timetables on websites above for times and further details.
All forms of public transport listed above drop off just 15 minutes walk from the venue by foot or 5 minutes by taxi. Taxi ranks are outside all City Centre stops.
All of the above applies as you’ll have to make your way to Dublin first if using public transport.
This also very handy:
FROM CORK, GALWAY
Bus services and train service by Bus Eireann and Irish Rail, but unfortunately no late night services.
Another useful bus company for these routes.
If you’re flying into Dublin Airport follow the Dublin info as above.
We recommend flying into Shannon airport where possible.
Bus Eireann and a number of private companies offer transport to the airport throughout the night to Limerick City.
Here’s the Bus Eireann link:
Shannon airport is 40 minutes from Limerick City, so it is very convenient.

LIMERICK CITY INFO & HOTELS
All City Centre hotels are within walking distance of the venue.
Limerick is a small, vibrant and easily navigable city. The main streets are O’Connell Street, William Street and Henry Street.
Dolans is located on the Dock Road, 15 minutes walk from the city centre. O’Connell Street is the main street and runs parallel to Henry Street. From Henry Street you can easily find the Dock Road (it is the next street over as you walk away from O’Connell Street). All locals know where Dolans is if you do become lost.
Venue Information & Other City Attractions
Dolans is a very welcoming pub and venue. It has an exceptionally good restaurant on site and will meet all dietary requirements with ease.
There is traditional Irish music every evening in the front bar.
If you’re arriving a day early or want to look around a bit early on Sunday we recommend the following.
Food & Drink: Curragower (lovely grub, nice atmosphere), The Blind Pig (craft beer, nice people), The Copper Room (beautiful wine bar – worth a look), Tom Collins ( great old bar with great Guinness and Beamish)
History/culture: Limerick Castle/King John’s Castle (recently renovated with great views of the city), The Hunt Museum, Frank McCourt Museum, St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. John’s Cathedral.
